John A. Coccaro, MD, attended St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and received his medical degree in 1991. He then went on to serve his general surgery residency at Monmouth Medical Center/Jersey Shore Medical Center (1993-1996). Furthermore, he conducted a second residency in anesthesiology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ (1996-1999). In addition, Dr. Coccaro completed advanced training on minimally invasive procedures for treating various spine related symptoms. He received board certification in anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He maintains active professional memberships of the New Jersey Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Society for Neuro Modulation. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry acquired at Long Island University – Brooklyn Campus in 1987. He is the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2020), the On-Time Doctor Award (2020), and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020) from vitals.com. In 2020, he was recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Leader in the field of Medicine, a recognition he dedicated to his uncle, Anthony DiMango, DMD, and his mentor, Robert Dorian, MD, the Chief of Anesthesiology at St. Barnabas.
